FREE SHARPS CONTAINERS FOR MERIDIAN RESIDENTS
There are approximately 9 million syringe users outside of traditional health care facilities. These syringe users administer more than 3 billion injections in one year.
The majority of sharps (needles, lancets, syringes) are thrown away in household trash, putting neighbors, children, and trash collectors at risk of needle stick injuries and infections.
Sanitary Services Company partnered with Larson-Miller Medical Waste Disposal Service to provide a local solution to this problem.
Residents of Meridian can receive free sharps disposal containers at Sanitary Services Company, located at 2130 W. Franklin Road. You will receive a free sharps container when you bring a current bill with your name and address on it, verifying Meridian residency, to our office.
When the container is full, bring it back to SSC for another container. Please note - full containers CANNOT be collected curbside and must be brought back to SSC for disposal.
This service is available free of charge to SSC residential customers. Please note that this service is for Meridian residents only - NOT Meridian businesses.
This program is the first of its kind in Idaho.
